Laser Therapy
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy involves targeting your pet’s problem area with light from a therapeutic veterinary laser device. A safe and pain-free procedure, laser therapy can help treat a variety of conditions, including:
- Arthritis
- Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
- Inflammation
- Tendon or ligament injuries
- Cuts and open wounds
- Surgical incision sites
- Trauma
Laser therapy is particularly useful for cats. Some of our feline friends don’t handle pain medication well—and some can’t take it long-term. Laser therapy can be the pain management solution for treating your cat’s chronic pain from arthritis or injuries that doesn’t involve daily pills or syringes.
It’s also a great choice for dogs who have a hard time taking medications or can’t take pain relievers due to liver disease or decreased organ function
How Does Laser Therapy Work?
Laser therapy helps restore damaged or irritated tissue by stimulating the growth and repair of your pet’s cells. It can also trigger the release of endorphins, relax the muscles, and increase blood flow to an affected area.
Therapy sessions last between 15 and 30 minutes. A veterinarian or veterinary technician will slowly pass the laser wand over your pet’s damaged tissue. Your pet may feel a warm sensation from the light beams. Many pets enjoy this feeling and become relaxed during their laser therapy session!
How Often Will My Pet Need Laser Therapy?
For arthritis, we typically recommend weekly laser therapy sessions at first. As your pet’s condition improves, we’ll reassess and determine the right schedule for your furry friend. Each laser therapy plan is custom tailored to your pet’s needs.
Because it’s so helpful in promoting healing and easing pain, laser therapy makes a huge difference in your pet’s recovery from surgery. That’s why we offer laser therapy during all of the surgeries we perform—it’s included in the price!
When you bring your fur-child in for some pain relief, our veterinary team will evaluate your pet and put together a custom treatment plan. We’ll put your pet on a laser therapy schedule so that the relief can begin as soon as possible. Contact us to discuss your pet’s individual needs!
